The Brain

The Brain is so complex, so efficient in energy use, and so powerful that evolutionist theories cannot explain its origin. It is the highest communication center of the body. In relation to the body , it is only 2℅ of the body weight. The longest time the body can be separated from the control of the brain is only 4 minutes. The brain uses about 15% of the blood in the body. It uses roughly 20℅ of the oxygen in the body. The volume of blood travelling through the brain in each hour is about 45 liters.

The brain receives information from all parts of the body including the sensory organs. Information in the body is communicated through the nerves. There are nerves that report from all parts of the body to the brain and others that send commands to all parts of the body from the brains. The brain, is seen as one entity but it is divided into four different sections. Each section of the brain controls some parts of the body

The brain survives on oxygen and glucose which is in the blood. When any part of the brain is deprived of blood, that section literally ' dies". This is what happens when someone suffers stroke. The part of the brain that is affected cannot control the parts of the body that it is connected to. The brain is well protected in the skull because it is very delicate . The brain like other parts of the body needs special care to ensure that it remains very active since its effective functioning determines our mental, physical and psychological health.

The brain is directly connected to the spinal cord which also connects all the peripheral nerves to form the nervous system .

BASIC NEEDS OF THE BRAIN

The two basic needs of the brain are OXYGEN and GLUCOSE.

Despite the fact that the brain is only two percent of the total weight of the body, it consumes twenty percent of the oxygen the body needs. Without oxygen the neurons die within a few minutes. Complete blockage of cerebral artery can lead to death because no blood gets to the brain . However the effects of lack of adequate oxygen is felt when there is poor supply of oxygenated blood to the body.

It may lead to decreased willpower, slowed thinking, diminished ability to concentrate and difficulty in reasoning and judgement.

Always make sure you breathe in fresh air,

Perform regular deep breathing exercises especially if your work requires less physical activities.

Keep the lungs healthy and live on healthy foods that prevents arteriosclerosis.

Glucose is the primary fuel for the neurons. Without it the brains cannot work. The neurones do not store glucose so there should be a constant supply of it through the food we eat. Glucose sources are grains, tubers, fruits that are high in fiber.

To improve GLUCOSE supply to the brain, your breakfast should include tubers like cassava , potato ,beans, and similar foods. Eat whole grains and reduce foods low in fiber. Neurons by nature should be dying with aging , but constant supply of oxygen and glucose improves the situation and reduces the aging processes.

We also need to protect the brains from infections and

chemicals to avoid damaging the brains.
